Elena's 4th Day -- Still at the hospital
It's Elena's 4th day with us (June 2), and we're still at the Tokyo Medical Center in Komazawa. In Japan they like to keep people hospitalized for (by American standards, anyway) abnormally long periods of time. Yuko and Elena will be in the hospital for a total of about 9-10 days. Glad we're insured!
Elena is playful today, and makes some funny faces that I was lucky enough to capture. Who would have thought that a newborn could have so many different expressions?

We started today's photo shoot with an old standby, sleeping. We see a lot of this lately.

Looks like she's sleep walking, except that she can't walk yet. Sleep leaning?

Now we begin the photo shoot in earnest -- "OK, tilt your head a bit to the side, look disinterested in the people around you, you're looking in the distance, you see a light or blotch of color or something, that's it . . . "

Can I help you? Who are you people? What is that flashing gray & black contraption?

Please, people, enough already . . . .

My sister Katie described this one best. In her words: "sort of expresses what I imagine it must feel like to be ripped out of a nice, comfortable, warm, aqueous environment into cold, harsh reality." Put me back in!!
